Keyboard Direction Up vs. Down

When someone says, “look up,” you raise your eyes to the skies. And if someone asks you to look down, your head and eyes gaze toward the ground.

Not in piano.

When you move your hands “up” or higher on the piano – it means to move your hands to the right, where the higher notes are produced.

Moving “down” or lower on the piano – means to move your hands to the left, where the lower notes are produced.

Up on the piano is right.

And down on the piano is left.

Oh yeah, and middle is, well, you guessed it, in the middle!

Got it? 🙂
